1 On One
Grow In 2010
1 On One begins Jan.17th.
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Proverbs 27:17 (NLT)
The Need: All Christians grow and develop in their faith more when they are linked to another person. The reality is that it is almost impossible to change alone. We start off good, but we just don’t follow through. But when we have at least one person who knows our struggles and encourages as well as challenges us, the success rate is much higher. We need another person to whom we are accountable and we also need to learn to listen and encourage another person.
The Plan: Those who want to grow in 2010 and beyond, will intentionally join with another person (same gender and not a close friend) and decide when they will meet and how often (two week interval maximum.) They will be provided a participants guide which will serve as a resource for their meetings together. They will fill in the covenant as to their plan and then log into the website to record their covenant. Included in the plan will be decisions as to how much Bible to read, personal prayer time, worship, extra reading, serving, and relationships. Each meeting they will log how they are doing in their plan and then report online on their confidential form. The meeting can be anywhere they feel comfortable and will serve as a time for them to be accountable to each other, share their lives, and encourage each other. “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NLT)
The Process: Beginning early in 2010, 1 on 1 will be presented along with the materials. Couples can form by themselves, or individuals who want to be paired can apply and will be given a suggestion as to a partner. At the end of the twelve weeks there is a mini-retreat for teaching and renewal on a Saturday morning.
