Haiti Relief Effort

I am sure that you have been distraught with concern for the suffering of so many in Haiti over the last two days.   The devastation is so great that it is impossible to comprehend or to conceive of the needs of so many who are in grief, shock, and struggling to stay alive.

This Sunday (Jan 17th) we will receive a special offering for the Haiti relief.   Our funds will go to Week of Compassion which is a relief agency of our church.   They have a great record of joining with other Christian relief organizations to make a difference at times like this.   What I like best about Week Of Compassion is that a very high percentage (over 95%) of the funds received reach the mission field.

We also have another connection.  Joy Grafton works with two nurses who have been going to Haiti for over seven years as medical missionaries.   They are Christians and are preparing to make a trip next week.   Their names are Sandy Lane and Carolyn Bottom and they are part of a local mission organization called MSI: Mission Support International.   As you have seen in the news, medical supplies are completely exhausted.   The two nurses will be taking all the supplies that they can take and we can help them by bringing supplies and by making monetary donations.   They are seeking all the basic: Tylenol, Advil, band-aids, gauges, ace bandage wraps, ointments, antibitotics, alcohol wipes, surgical tape, ect.   If you want to bring some of those items, we will get them to them before they leave.
