Basic Jesus: Clean The Inside

Jesus broke ranks with his contemporary followers of God by not following their customs and traditions that they thought determined a person's purity. He ate with Gentiles, associated with sinners, and did not practice their ceremonial washings. He told them a truth that we need to hear: We are pure by having a pure heart, not by doing certain religious actions. Our actions are a product of our hearts, not the opposite.
